Robert McEligot
As an undergraduate Robert McEligot attended the University of California at Berkeley, receiving a BS in biophysics. He then enrolled in Golden Gate University's masters' program where he received his MBA in accounting. Bob began his career at Arthur Andersen where, working in the Tax Department for 10 years, he rose to the level of senior manager. He was then employed in San Francisco as director of taxes and then director of financial services for Catholic Healthcare West. In January 1996, we welcomed him onboard at Calegari & Morris where he's proven to be a very strong technical resource as well as an excellent client service executive.
Currently, Bob works with closely held businesses and their owners as well as with high net-worth individuals. His business clientele consists of manufacturers, medical groups, law firms, and construction contractors. Bob makes the most of his creativity, his extensive experience, and project management skills by anticipating critical issues for his clients and thereby optimizing their tax benefits. As part of the team here, Bob is strongly oriented toward customer service. By staying in close communication with his clients, he's better able to help them achieve their goals.
A creative thinker by nature, Bob looks beyond obvious problems and solutions to find the best ways to accomplish his clients' objectives. Here's an example: "Recently a client asked a questions about her incentive stock options. By considering her total stock option portfolio, I could plan a strategy that would allow her to exercise various options while minimizing risk and avoiding the Alternative Minimum Tax."
Bob lives in Alameda and happily commutes via the Harbor Bay Ferry. He enjoys sailing on San Francisco Bay and cruising with the St. Francis Yacht Club. The father of two sons, who both attend college, Bob continues to be an active Boy Scout Troop leader.
Bob McEligot on Calegari & Morris:
"One of the many things I like about Calegari & Morris is our open and collaborative environment. Having such a diverse group of experienced people to consult with is a real plus."
